YOUNG TALENT : VERDA SAMANLI

Creating an art piece during the Denim Fair was a great experience where I learned a lot, challenged myself and enjoyed my time. With no preparation and total freedom, I was able to feel myself and create an art piece out of it.

Can we know you a little bit?

I am a senior studying Plastic Arts at Sorbonne University in Paris. I’ve been living in Paris since three years, my favorite city on earth. I had a passion in all kinds of arts during my childhood and now I am doing what I love.

I appreciate being in a city which inspires me in a different way every single day of my journey with its architecture, energy and artistic taste. My ambition is to create new things by using the power of this city combined with the inspiration I got from different artists and my aim is to become an inspiration one day. That’s why I am at the right place doing the best thing Ican in order to reach this goal.

The live performance you actualized on denim painting in Turkey Lounge area at May 2018 Denim Premiere Vision Fair, has attracted quite a lot of attention. How did it feel like to be in this project?

Creating an art piece during the Denim Fair was a great experience where I learned a lot, challenged myself and enjoyed my time.

With no preparation and total freedom, I was able to feel myself and create an art piece out of it.The small talks with people who were interested with my art piece was also quite interesting and inspiring for me where I was able to explain myself, my art and get different feedback from people with different perspective.

Can you tell us about your style and lines? What are your inspirers?

When I was living in Turkey, I was interested in many kind and form of arts : ceramic, photography, collage, charcoal… But when I first started university I was focusing on materials I was using and also on forms and textures that I was
creating with them

This is why on the day of the Fair, working with the denim on a canvas was describing my area of interest at the moment. Because I had already discovered that the paint used on each different material was projecting itself in a particular ways.

What are your goals in the next period?

Thinking about my future career, I know that I always want to be in the creative field and becoming a unique art curator is probably one of my biggest dreams.
